| I think you may have mistaken what I meant.. I wasn't saying that the GT28RS are the same as the GT2871's.. I was saying that the COMPRESSOR HOUSINGS are the T04B. I know the specs of the compressor wheels and turbine wheels will result in different power outputs.. The A/R of the turbine housings will affect spool up times.. this I already know.. The A/R of the compressor housings are the same.. But the housings are physically (outside) are different. I have read before that other cars that were using GT28RS turbos, changed the compressor housings and swapped from the (ATP turbo offers all kinds of different compressor/turbine housing options). turbine housing stayed the same. He had a .86 a/r exhaust turbine housing. Compressor housing was previously the (T3 or GT28R STYLE) housing with 2-bolt INLET, 3-bolt OUTLET. TO A . GT28RS STYLE or Native T04B comressor HOUSING, not different wheel/trim etc specs. And there was a gain of somewhere close to 30rwhp, just by changing the housing. I can't remember where I read it from, but I remember talking to Chip @ ginn motorsports back in the day and he mentioned the same thing.. that the T04b COMPRESSOR HOUSING alone, will produce more power than the T3 (2bolt in/ 3 bolt out) COMPRESSOR HOUSING. I just wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences with this. From comparing my GT28R turbos to my GT28RS (without paying attention to the obvious wheel/trim spec differences) It looks that the t04B housing would flow more air. Not just because of the 3" inlet alone.. but the actual "swirl" or "leg" of the turbo looked like it was larger.. So i wonder if there is any difference with internal machining. Both turbos GT28R and GT28RS have the same A/R.. but thats just telling us that the aspec ratio is the same.. not if there are differnet machining rules used on the inside. I appreciate your response and I can see how you would think I was just thinking 'why the difference in power" (when one has a larger wheel etc than the other) but I was talking PURELY on the compressor housing themselves.
